The local area around Queenshill Lodges & Dumfries and Galloway
Famed for its rugged coastline, lovely beaches, forests and wild moorland as much as for its ancient castles and charming little towns, this corner of South West Scotland provides a delightful backdrop to our holiday lodges in Kirkcudbrightshire. The inviting coastal village of Creetown is perhaps best known for its country music festival and as the setting for the cult film, The Wicker Man (there’s a 12 ft high model of him among many other fascinating exhibits in the Creetown Heritage Museum). And there’s a magical thrill in visiting a castle you can only by reach by boat. Threave Castle sits on a small island in the River Dee, and in another part of this great estate, Threave Gardens should please keen gardeners - both are easily accessible from our holiday lodges in Kirkcudbrightshire.

"An excellent choice of a break for hiking over hills and forest and coastal trails. The amount of wildlife observed was outstanding and the accommodation was very clean, warm, quiet, and friendly to come home to after a whole day out trecking. We intend to return to this park later in the year as a one week break is insufficiant."
